Udaipur, the City of Lakes, often conjures images of majestic palaces and serene lakes bathed in sunshine. But what if I told you we stumbled upon a hidden gem, a place that transformed under the magic touch of rain?
A secret jewel awaits discovery amid the lovely city of Udaipur, where nature weaves tales of romance and beauty. The Bahubali Hills, located near the calm Badi Lake, invites visitors to embark on an extraordinary natural beauty and tranquility journey.
It all started on a whim. We were out for a joyride, relishing the pitter-patter of raindrops on our skin, when we chanced upon a sign leading to “Bahubali Hills.” Intrigued, we decided to take a detour and let me tell you, it was a decision we didn’t regret! To reach the Bahubali Hills, you start by following the Nimach Mata Road, a winding path that gradually leads you into the arms of Mother Nature. As you continue on this picturesque route, be prepared to be enchanted by the rustic charm of Shilpgram, a village renowned for its vibrant arts and crafts.
From Shilpgram, let the road be your guide as you venture further until the glistening expanse of the famous Badi Lake greets you. As we made our way towards the hills, the landscape transformed. The lush greenery was washed clean, and the air buzzed with the vibrant energy of the downpour. Reaching the base, we were greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly fried pakoras and steaming hot Maggi emanating from a small stall. What better way to embrace the rainy weather than with some local treats?
With full bellies and fueled by excitement, we embarked on the trek to the top. The path, though not very challenging, was a 500-meter journey uphill. But trust me, every step was worth it. The rain-washed Aravalli hills, adorned with a verdant cloak, emerged into view with each turn. The sound of the wind whispering through the leaves and the rhythmic drumming of raindrops on the rocks created a symphony of nature.
While the Bahubali Hills are charming all year, there is one season when they come alive in an enthralling way – the monsoon season. The hills morph into a beautiful paradise when the heavens open up and rains tenderly kiss the soil. The beautiful shades of green become bright, and the scent of damp earth fills the air, creating a magical ambiance. Just see the breathtaking view it unfolds…!!!
As you prepare to travel to the Bahubali Hills, make sure you dress appropriately for the adventure that awaits you. Choose athletic clothing and shoes with a good grip. The ascent can be treacherous, especially during the rainy season, so be prepared. As the weather in the highlands can be unpredictable, a light rain jacket may be useful.
The little vendors who have set up shop here add to the enchantment of this beautiful location. The aroma of scalding hot Maggi and the soothing warmth of tea combine to produce a sensory experience that complements the natural beauty of the surroundings wonderfully. Sharing a lunch in such perfect tranquillity is an experience that will live long in the memory.
The Bahubali Hills provide an invaluable experience, but a visit here is inexpensive. While there is no official admission price, the people who live near the hills may request a small payment, usually around Rs. 10, especially during the monsoon season when there is a high volume of visitors. This small contribution goes a long way towards helping the local people and preserving the natural beauty of the hills.
The Bahubali Hills provide the option to camp amidst their calm beauty for those wishing to enhance their relationship with nature. Many travelers opt to set up camp during the monsoon season, when the hills are at their most charming, to immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of this natural sanctuary. One may properly enjoy the magic of the Bahubali Hills under the canopy of a star-studded sky, surrounded by the soft rustling of leaves and the distant melody of crickets.
